1. Easy steps to achieve the perfect cup of tea

Watch Youtube video here

Brew yourself a cup of tea and then settle in for 10 minutes to watch this wonderful 1941 movie from the British Film Institute and Empire Tea Bureau called Tea Making Tips. It focuses on brewing a hearty cup of English style black tea but most principles are the same apart from a reduced water temperature when brewing oolongs, greens and whites plus steep times. We think it is almost impossible to watch this without an affectionate smile on your face. A big thank you to the British Film Institute for making this available.

Alternatively read our brewing tips here.

2. A Warming Winter Tonic – ginger,
lemon and honey drink.

Some times the simple things are the best.

Grate a good sized knob of fresh ginger into a warmed 2 cup teapot, squeeze in the juice of a lemon (include the grated rind for even more of a lemon hit if you wish), add a teaspoon of honey and top up your pot with boiling water.  Set aside for 5 minutes, give the pot a stir and serve.

Benefits: Ginger to aid your circulation and settle your tummy, the lemon will soothe a sore throat and help relieve a cold. If you find you are not suited to ginger then try adding some peppermint to the mix to assist digestion.

If you don’t want to start from scratch then try our ginger lemon herbal blend. This contains spearmint and a small amount of liquorice which aids decongestion and lends a sweetness to this blend.

(a) Spiced treacle gingerbread with a marmalade glaze

We hope you love the intense spice in this marvellous   gingerbread recipe. The marmalade and  yoghurt ingredients result in a lovely moist texture.  We really enjoy this with a good black tea.

(b) A Pine Cone pleaser for the birds
