1. Lost in the bush?  Stop, make a cup of tea

Recently UK survival expert John Hudson was interviewed on Radio NZ National. He offered some tips should you ever get lost in the bush, including our favourite – stop and make a cup of tea. The points we took out of this interview were by stopping:

1. You are no longer moving away from your last known point which is rather helpful for searchers

2. It enables you to gather your thoughts and come up with a plan

3. Heating water means generating some form of heat for yourself

4. Drinking a cup of tea means nourishing your body.

2. Nurturing your body during winter

At this time of year it is very easy to stay inside by the fire. Why not fill your thermos flask, pack your Stir Tea and head outside for a dose of Vitamin D from the sun.  Simply taking a break and sitting outside with your cuppa is a great start.  Read an article by Kiwi based nutritionist (and owner of Mission Nutrition), Claire Turnbull on 4 Easy Steps To Keep You Well This Winter.

Walnut, Oat and Date Energy Loaf – Sustaining and Nourishing

This dense loaf is so delicious and nourishing that it may well become your favourite recipe for when you are on the go.  Add this to your day pack along with your thermos and pack of tea.

A number of our customers find the fill your own tea filters really helpful for brewing their Stir Tea when they are out and about (filling them at home means you have the perfect measure of tea and eliminate excess weight to carry).
